Warm and entertaining Harold Sanditen used his travels to “far away places with strange- sounding names” as a backdrop to a fast and funny evening of songs about where he has been and what he did there. He has a nice sound and a most amusing manner that makes each of his chats between songs interesting and often quite funny.
Sanditen hosts an open mic show at The Crazy Coqs in London, but was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which explains why “(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66” is included with “Come Fly with Me” in his opening medley. His swinging “When in Rome (I Do as the Romans Do)” had me humming Cy Coleman’s melody throughout the next day. His very different, slow tempo, “I Got the Sun in the Morning” was preceded by a tale about a 4 AM view of the sunrise. Sanditen began singing in public, at a karaoke bar, at age 50, and was very funny describing what it was like competing with 12 year olds and winning by singing “Crazy.” His travels to Brazil led to beautifully performed “Brazil” and “Waters of March.” He closed with “No More Blues,” performed in French and English, and the encore was a soft and beautiful “In My Life.”
