COMSTOCK & FASANO- cabaretEric Comstock and Barbara Fasano are the perfect couple to perform a Valentine week love-fest. They are the best of today’s husband-and-wife teams and they perform smoothly together, mastering the art of interacting with each other on stage. Each is an accomplished vocalist, but they are at their best when blending their voices. Their back- and-forth banter is loving and often very amusing. The team managed to meld together songs of New York, romantic ballads and tributes to Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Joey Bushkin and Billy Strayhorn on their centennials in this almost 90-minute show.

Comstock’s opening medley of “This Is the Life”/“Only in New York,” followed by their duet of “Love Is in the Air,” set the stage for the 14 numbers that would follow. They were delightful performing both the male and very different female versions of “Oh, Look At Me Now.” Particularly moving was their tribute to Holiday with Comstock singing “I Thought About You” as Holiday would have performed it, followed by Fasano’s very beautiful “But Beautiful.” She was sexy, yet funny, with “Hurry On Down,” which preceded their closing medley “Put On Your Sunday Clothes”/“On Broadway.”
